SawmMate utilizes the standard HTML5 window.localStorage API built natively into modern web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera). This allows the application to remember your preferences without contacting a remote server:

• Fasting Log State: Records whether you fasted, completed Qada, or were exempt on each day of the month.
• Prayer & Taraweeh Checklist: Stores your daily checks for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, Taraweeh, and Tahajjud.
• Quran Khatm Progress: Saves your completed Juz bookmarks and page counts.
• Daily Sunnah & Reflection Notes: Preserves the personal journal thoughts you write in the daily reflection card.
• City & Method Settings: Keeps track of your selected calculation authority (e.g. Umm Al-Qura, ISNA) and prayer minute offsets.

This data never leaves your computer or phone. If you switch to an incognito window, switch browsers, or clear your browser cookies and site storage, this local data will be reset unless you export a backup.

3. Data Export & Danger Zone Reset Rights

Because we do not store your data on our servers, you hold total sovereignty over your records:

• Data Portability: You can click the 💾 Backup icon in the header at any time to generate and download a standard JSON file containing all your recorded data. You can restore this file on any other device.
• Right to Total Erasure: Inside the Backup modal, the "⚠️ Reset All Data to Defaults" button instantly clears all SawmMate keys from your browser's localStorage. You may also clear your browser cache at any time.
